ALL SYSTEMS ARE GO

Hey Guys,

Sorry for leaving our blog empty for so long!
Well do I have news for you - we have booked tickets to the UK - We are going on our OE - which is so exciting - however I have to admit my knees did shake a lil when I hit the buy button on the internet! We will be leaving on 15 September!
However, what this now means is that all systems are go on getting our house finished so that we can rent it out at top dollar to people who will treat it as kindly as we would, especially after all the blood, sweat, tears and not to mention money we have poured into it (who are we kidding - but I am trying to think postively - the power of positive thinking and all that). Then there is quitting our jobs (I have now told my work, I think they took it pretty well), and opening UK bank accounts, applying for our UK visas, applying for jobs, settling Jess into mum and dads, packing up our house............whew!
Anyway, the house bit is going well we are just about finished renovating the bathroom leaving just the hall and the 2nd spare room -we hope to have this all done by the end of this month.
I have filled out all the application forms for a UK bank account, but the 1500 pound opening balance and the $100 fee have stunned me so much that I haven't been very motivated to follow through yet.

We are looking forward to having a life again once we get to the UK, you know doing things normal people do, like enjoying weekend, socialising with friends and having time to wonder what we might get up to -that sort of thing.
Hopefully it will be slightly abnormal too, eg popping to France for the weekend or Scotland - whatever takes our fancy at the time. I will be sure to post a blog everytime we do this.

I have a friend at work who is British, and she has decided it is her duty as a Brit to make a list of all the things that I need to do/eat while in London to make me experience British culture at its best - this came about after me and my boss (we are both from sheep and beef farming backgrounds) were discussing at lunch how good dog biscuits tasted when we were little and how we love the smell of places such as Wrightsons. She decided that I definitely needed some refining -she's probably right! I look forward to seeing her list.

Anyway I think that is about all I have to say for now, but I will try to be better at updating this in the next two months before we leave - watch this space.
